Los Monarcas de Eugene - Copa de la Diversión
(7 items)
Beginning in 2018, the Eugene Emeralds adopted this Latin-inspired alternate identity as part of MiLB's Copa de la Diversión. Why the Monarch Butterfly? After assembling a panel of local Latin leaders and community members, the Monarch Butterfly was chosen based on representation and significance. The Monarch has the largest migration pattern out of any other animal or insect and serves as an inspirational reminder of our nation's migrant population. The Butterfly logo is symbolically designed; the body is a baseball bat, the trees in the wings represent the City of Eugene, and the 33 white dots represent the thirty-three Latin countries. Now, the Monarcas de Eugene take the field every Sunday!
